LETTER FROM SECRETARY-GENERAL
Esteemed Delegates and Guests,
It is my utmost pleasure to welcome you all to the first annual session of Izmir Institute of Technology Model United Nations Conference. I feel a great honor to announce that MUNIYTE’19 will be held at Izmir Institute of Technology/Technopark between 1-4 August 2019.
These wise words from the former Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon “By strengthening the three pillars of the United Nations – security, development and human rights – we can build a more peaceful, more prosperous and more just world for our succeeding generations.” have been key to determine which committees are to be simulated at MUNIYTE.
Our delegates will be acknowledging that there may be no peace without global economic prosperity while simulating the G20 summit. The consequence of economic insecurity and distrust between bilateral diplomacy between states is inevitable, war. Our delegates will be experiencing the struggles of war and will be learning to take fast-paced decisions in a moment of crisis with being present at the JCC: Iran-Iraq War.
Setting the regulations and rules of how global development will be achieved will be debated upon at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, UNCTAD. Having access to open waters surely has great contributions to the economic prosperity of a state but how can the same may be achieved at land-locked countries while also respecting the framework of Global BioTrade Programme? Our delegates present at UNCTAD will be ensuring to give an answer to the question.
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.” is the first article the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. With a quick scroll down on our newsfeed we can argue that this article is not understood by us, the mankind. Our delegates at UNHRC will be working upon lightening the spark of hope for our future.
Concluding my letter, I would like to state that it will be the utmost pleasure of the Izmir Institute of Technology Model United Nations Society to welcome you all to our second annual session. Let’s show the world how the future world leaders handle today’s issues between 1-4 August 2019.
In service and leadership,
Izmir Institute of Technology Model United Nations 2019
